We are once again extremely fortunate to be able to hold our Annual Charity Golf Day for 2010 at Thorpe Hall Golf Club. I do hope that you will be able to join us. The date is Monday 7th June 2010 and as usual, we are expecting strong demand for places. Please get your entry in as early as possible to ensure your team's participation and the best choice of tee times. To make matters even more attractive for you, we are keeping the cost at the 2009 level and in an effort to minimise our last minute admin, there is a discount for entries received and paid before 14th March - see below.

Your support in the past has enabled us to donate in excess of £100,000 to selected charities over the 16 years we have held this event and last year, despite the recession you continued to give generously, with nearly £8000 raised.

In 2010 we are supporting Peaceful Place, one of the chosen charities of the Thorpe Hall captain, which is a local charity based in Rochford, focusing on help for the young Alzheimer sufferer, along with other local Rotary charities. Information about Peaceful Place can be found at their website, www.peacefulplace.co.uk .

The 2010 Golf Day will be run in the format that has been so successful from the beginning:

  • Spacer18 hole team competition for teams of 4, the best 3 scores on each hole counting
  • SpacerStableford scoring off full handicap (maximum 24 for Men and 36 for Ladies)
  • SpacerA host of prizes for teams and individuals
  • SpacerHot and cold running buffet (including desserts) available between 12.00 and 18.30
  • SpacerA Putting Competition, Raffle and Silent Auction.
  • SpacerCoffee available throughout the day

There are great opportunities on each of the five par 3 holes to win major prizes for a "Hole in One" and there are also Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive competitions that are less demanding!

The entry form for printing is HERE  PDF icon and I would ask that you complete this and return it with your entry fee of £200 per team as soon as possible. All entries received and paid by 14th March qualify for a discount of £20 on the team fee to £180. Thorpe Hall Golf Course will, as usual, be presented at its very best for your enjoyment and the catering and bar staff will be on hand to serve you throughout the day, including bacon rolls (at a small extra charge) for the early starters.

My colleagues in the Rotary Club of Thorpe Bay and I look forward to receiving your entries and to seeing you on the day.
